When it came time to make their selection with the last pick in the first round of the NFL Draft, the Giants, as always, mulled over several players they had ranked in a cluster with similar assigned values. One of those players was Rueben Randle, a lanky receiver from LSU who was given a solid first-round grade. “He was in the discussion,’’ said Marc Ross, the Giants director of college scouting.
Late Thursday night, the Giants opted for Virginia Tech running back David Wilson, and Ross figured that was that as far as Randle wearing a Giants uniform.
