Ryan Seacrest, best known for his role as host of American Idol, has signed a lucrative new contract with the American broadcasting company Nbc that will see him take up presenting duties on the Today Show as well as numerous roles on the network. The network has called the deal "groundbreaking" in terms of multiplatform presenting duties, with the new deal enabling him to have a presence in Nbc's coverage of the new, sports and entertainment division.
Mr Seacrest already has a similarly lucrative deal with the E! network, which is owned by NbcUniversal. His role on E! will be considerably reduced so that he can contribute more to programming on the other network. In the future audiences can expect to see Seacrest in the network's coverage of the upcoming US Presidential election as well future prime-time entertainment. The new deal will also see Seacrest take up presenting duties for the network during its coverage of this years London Olympics as well, one of his first duties as a sports correspondent.
Seacrest has served as the lead anchor and managing editor of E! News where he has worked since 2006, of course his role will be considerably lessened in upcoming months
