Bharat Bandh: Engineering exams start at all 60 centres as per schedule


Despite Bharat Bandh, exams of first year engineering courses at University of Mumbai have started as per schedule. Students of first year engineering are appearing for the Computer Programming — paper 1 from 11 to 2pm at all engineering colleges affiliated to varsity. Close to 20,000 students are appearing for this paper.

As the University has not declared a holiday, chief exam conductors, supervisers and students have been advised to reach an hour before the exam. Most of the students took precautions and reached at centres on time. But due to fewer autorickshaws some of the students were struggling till 10.45am. According to Dean, Faculty of Technology, Dr SK Ukarande, said, “All officials have reached on time. Students are still coming in.”

Principal of Vatumal Engineering College, Sandhya Desai said, “Everyone has reached in time and we are set to start the exam as per the schedule.” Principal of Thadomal Shahani College of Engineering, CS Kulkarni said, “Most of the students reached by 10.45am.”

Director of examination Dr Subhash Deo said, “All the centres have been instructed to give extra time for those students who come late due to the bandh.” He also claimed that exam house staff has reached in time and every centre has been provided with hard copies of paper along with soft copies which is now being given in password protected CDs due to various paper leaks.

Exams for 16 branches of third year (semester VI) exams will be conducted at 3-6pm. 7,000 students will appear in this paper.
