Heat’s Dwyane Wade upset about Derrick Rose’s injury

Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose (1)...MIAMI — Heat guard Dwyane Wade was among those disappointed to hear Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a knee injury.

Rose, the reigning NBA MVP, tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee late in Saturday’s victory against the Philadelphia Sixers. It was the end of an injury-filled season for Rose, who missed 27 games during the regular season because of various ailments.

“I said a prayer for him and his family,” Wade said. “You never want to see anyone get injured, especially a player of his caliber. Very unfortunate. You hope he does his best to rehab and gets back to being the D-Rose that everyone loves.”

Shumpert out

It wasn’t a great day for guards from the Chicago-area.

Knicks guard Iman Shumpert, a Chicago native like Rose, sustained an undisclosed left knee injury that will likely keep him out the remainder of the season. The play occurred in the third quarter after the outcome had been decided.

“It’s just an unfortunate situation,” Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony said. “For us to lose a guy like Shump, the way he had been playing, we’re definitely going to miss that. ... My prayers go out to him.”

Coach Mike Woodson said he expects to know more about the injury Sunday.

“My concern now is (Shumpert) in terms of him going down and we don’t know the outcome of his injury,” Woodson said.

Shumpert is the Knicks’ best perimeter defender, and was responsible for guarding Wade.

Chandler still recovering

Knicks center Tyson Chandler played despite recently overcoming a bout with the flu, but was hardly his usual presence.

Chandler went scoreless in 21 minutes, grabbing just three rebounds and committing seven turnovers.

“I didn’t think I was going to be able to play (Friday),” Chandler said. “I thought I’d be able to give my team a little something. I thought maybe by just being out there it would help my team morale. But I wasn’t able to do much.”

Chandler had been away for three days, rejoining teammates just hours before the game. He was vomiting in the locker room at halftime.
